Welcome to the Chair of Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy of Childhood and Adolescence
Led by Prof. Dr. Aleksandra Kaurin, our lab is dedicated to understanding the interpersonal, emotional, and cognitive foundations of mental disorders from childhood through adolescence. Our research, centered on "Contextual Developmental Psychopathology," investigates how mental disorders develop during critical developmental phases and across multiple levels of analysis. We explore the influence of individual differences and seek ways to prevent these disorders from emerging. To do this, we employ cutting-edge technologies (such as Ecological Momentary Assessment and passive sensing) to identify patterns of dysregulation in real-time within the daily lives of children and adolescents. A major focus of our work is the study of self-harming behavior and suicide prevention in young people, particularly in connection with experiences of inequity, such as racial discrimination. We also tackle methodological challenges in the quantitative modeling of risk and resilience processes that are assessed with sensitivity to developmental stages.
